Finnish Winter Swimming Championships 18^th - 20^th Feb 2011

The Finnish Championships in Winter Swimming 2011 will be held in Joensuu from 18^th to 20^th February. Besides competitive and non-competitive swimming events, there will be lots of other entertainment, making the weekend  an exciting winter carnival.  The President of the Republic Tarja Halonen is  the  patron of the winter carnival.

All swimming  events are open to international participants, too, though they are not entitled to Finnish championship awards.  

The venue for the competitions is the lagoon on Ilosaari Island in the city centre.  The competition office is at the nearby Cultural Centre Karjalantalo. For changing rooms, there are barracks next to swimming tracks. With their competition card, the participants get free entry to sauna and swimming in the Aquatic Centre Vesikko. There is a free shuttle bus service for the swimmers.
